AMAT Mentorship Program

PURPOSE

The AMAT Mentoring Program is designed to connect AMAT members with experienced professionals in the donation and transplantation community. The career-related program establishes the mentor as a coach who provides advice to enhance the mentee’s professional performance and development, or improve upon the tools, knowledge and networks necessary to achieve their career goals. Mentors and mentees will be formally assigned, and we ask that they meet at least once a month.

DURATION

The mentoring program will begin in January and conclude at the annual conference in September.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

1. All program participants, mentors and mentees, must be members of AMAT at the time of application, and throughout the duration of the mentoring program.

2. Mentors should have at least 4 years of donation and transplantation experience, excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and listening, and a desire to contribute to the future of the AMAT mission.

3. Participants must take the relationship seriously. It should have a high priority and clear, mutual goals.

4. Participants must engage in two-way communication. They should meet at a minimum, monthly, using whatever method works best.

5. Participants must agree to protect confidential information and understand that trust is an integral part of the relationship.

6. Participants must make an effort to ensure that meetings and other interactions move along at an appropriate speed.

7. Participants must understand the defined goals and actively work to reach them.
