Bridging Faiths: Interreligious Dialogues on Organ Donation and Transplantation

During this session, we are honored to host a diverse panel of esteemed faith leaders, representing major religions practiced nationwide, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and Sikhism. Together, we will delve into the foundational beliefs surrounding death, dying, and burial practices across these faith traditions. Furthermore, our discussion will navigate the intricate religious perspectives on organ, eye, and tissue donation, providing insights into common community concerns and fostering understanding across diverse religious landscapes.
By the end of the panel discussion, the donation industry team member should be able to:
– List 6 common faiths and the title of their religious leader (Rabbi, Pastor, etc.)
– Describe with minimal error (several) burial considerations of each of the 6 faiths represented
– Describe 2 ways their local organization can integrate into religious communities in their area
– Explain the stance toward organ donation of each of the religions represented
