33rd Annual AMAT Conference

The Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT) invites experts, professionals, and advocates in the field of organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplantation to submit presentation proposals for the 33rd Annual AMAT Conference.

This year’s theme, “Strength in Unity: Advancing Donation & Transplantation in Changing Times,” emphasizes the power of collaboration and innovation to drive equitable outcomes in donation and transplantation.

Conference Tracks

Presentation proposals should align with one or more of the following conference tracks:

1. Public Education & Outreach

  • Culturally competent outreach strategies
  • Engaging diverse communities in donor registration
  • Tackling misinformation about organ and tissue donation
  • Success stories in grassroots and digital outreach

2. Hospital Development

  • Strategies for effective engagement with hospital partners
  • Cultural intelligence and sensitivity in hospital settings
  • Addressing first-person authorization (FPA) opposition
  • Bridging language barriers in donor cases

3. Clinical & Research

  • Advances in donor management and transplantation techniques
  • Addressing racial disparities in transplant outcomes
  • Innovations in living and deceased donation
  • The impact of new allocation policies

4. Tissue Donation

  • Expanding access and awareness in tissue donation
  • Inclusion of transgender, non-binary, and intersex individuals in tissue donation
  • Transformative stories and outcomes of tissue transplantation
  • Best practices from the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB)

5. Family Services & Aftercare

  • Supporting donor families through grief and donation decisions
  • Effective communication techniques for family services coordinators
  • Gender identity and patient care: best practices
  • Strengthening hospital-family relationships
